
Muhammad Sani Abdullahi
Muhammad Sani Abdullahi, popularly known as Dattijo, is a prominent Nigerian development economist and public servant with a distinguished career in both national and international spheres. Born on October 26, 1979, in Kaduna State, he holds a Bachelor's degree in Economics from Ahmadu Bello University and a Master's in Development Economics and Policy from the University of Manchester. He has also pursued advanced studies at institutions such as the London School of Economics, Oxford University, and Columbia University.
Abdullahi served as a policy adviser at the United Nations under Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon, contributing significantly to the development of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). He later returned to Nigeria where he played a key role in public finance reform as the Commissioner for Budget and Planning in Kaduna State and later as Chief of Staff to Governor Nasir El-Rufai. In 2023, he was appointed Deputy Governor for Economic Policy at the Central Bank of Nigeria, where he oversees monetary policy and economic strategy. He is also the current Chairman of FMDQ Group PLC, a key financial market infrastructure company. Abdullahi is widely recognized for his work in promoting transparency, inclusive governance, and sustainable development, and is the author of Disruption: Rethinking Governance to Work for the Poor.
