Mr. Yaw Brantuo
Yaw Brantuo is a seasoned specialist in financial systems and international development, with a distinguished career that began in Ghana’s financial services sector in 1991. His professional journey spans investment and commercial banking, capital market operations on the Ghana Stock Exchange, bank training and capacity building, development finance, and project management. Prior to transitioning into international development, he held key roles in three prominent financial institutions and Ghana’s foremost banking training institute.
Over the past two decades, Yaw has applied his expertise to advancing financial inclusion, particularly through rural and agricultural finance interventions and strategic development of banking systems across Africa. His consulting portfolio is diverse and far-reaching, encompassing engagements with private sector financial institutions, central banks, and public agencies in finance, agriculture, trade, and communications. He has also supported numerous bilateral and multilateral development organizations, including GIZ, DANIDA, FSD Africa (DFID), UN Agencies (IFAD and UNCDF), USAID, the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), and the World Bank Group (including IFC and CGAP).
Yaw holds multiple degrees from the University of Ghana, including a BSc in Administration (Banking & Finance), an MBA in Finance, and an MA in Development Studies. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers (FCIB), Ghana, a Certified Expert in Agricultural Finance (CEAF, Frankfurt School), and a Certified Digital Finance Practitioner (Digital Frontiers Institute, South Africa), an accreditation supported by The Fletcher School at Tufts University.
As an independent consultant based in Windhoek, Namibia, and more recently operating from Abuja, Nigeria, Yaw continues to provide high-level advisory and technical assistance across a broad geography—serving clients and projects in Botswana, Ghana, Italy, Kenya, Lesotho, Liberia, Namibia, Nigeria, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, South Africa, South Sudan, and Zambia. His core areas of expertise include financial systems development, rural and agricultural finance, digital and inclusive finance, microfinance, MSME development, leadership, and strategy consulting.
